Winter in Flims Laax
Our personal insider tips
Many people are familiar with the region’s well-known hotspots. However, the most impressive winter moments are often found in quieter places where there are fewer people around.
Here we show you experiences that we ourselves appreciate and that can enrich your stay at Peaks Place. Perhaps you will discover something that will open up your winter day in a new way.
5 summit experiences that will make your winter special
The last descent into the valley
A winter finale in the evening light
If you want to end your day on the slopes in a relaxed manner, the last descent from Tegia Miez (below Crap Sogn Gions) is ideal.
In the late afternoon, the slope becomes less crowded and the light changes to warm tones. Just before you reach the open slopes, the sun dips behind the mountain ridges and colors the snow in warm hues.
At this moment, the valley run seems particularly clear and calm: a perfect end to your day of skiing that will stay in your memory!
The first tracks in the fresh snow
First gondola in the morning
It’s worth getting an early start. If you take the first gondola up, you’ll have the mountain almost to yourself.
The air is cold, the slopes are freshly groomed, and you can make your mark before the day really begins.
If there is an early bird gondola, you can also experience the sunrise on Crap Sogn Gion. The mountains gradually become brighter and you are right in the middle of it. A moment that will influence your whole day and one that you should not miss.
One of the most impressive winter routes
Snowshoe tours across the Segnesböden
The snowshoe tour across the Segnesböden is one of the most impressive winter experiences in the region. The area is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona and shows the famous thrust fault more clearly than almost anywhere else.
From the Cassons mountain station, the trail leads across a wide plateau formed by glaciers. Along the way, the view opens up towards Laaxer Stöckli, Ofen, and Lumnezia. A highlight is the rest area above Tschenghel dil Gori, where you can see the entire region.
The tour is well marked, quiet, and shows you the landscape of Flims Laax in a way you would not otherwise experience.
From Flims Waldhaus to Conn
Winter walk
If you are looking for an easy winter activity, the trail from Flims Waldhaus to Conn is ideal. The wide winter trail takes you through quiet forests, past open clearings, and offers frequent glimpses of the Rhine Gorge.
The trail is well maintained and rarely crowded. Many visitors walk it several times during their stay because it is relaxing, reliable, and pleasant at any time of day. At the end, you will reach Conn, a quiet spot where you can take a short break before heading back.
A peaceful high-altitude circuit with sweeping views
Panorama Trail Naraus – Startgels
The winter trail from Naraus to Startgels is one of the quieter high-altitude trails in the region. It is well maintained, wide, and offers frequent unobstructed views of the Signina chain and Sursleva.
Many people appreciate this trail because it is sunny and much less frequented than the well-known hotspots. In Startgels, you can take a short break before heading back or continuing on towards Flims. An uncomplicated winter experience that shows you the mountain landscape from an open, expansive perspective.
