Over seven bridges along the Flem to Flims

Tour report Trutg dil Flem

Over seven bridges to Flims

Trutg dil Flem, Flims waterway

Our marketing employee Carla takes you on the Trutg dil Flem hike from the Segneshütte along the Flem to Flims. Colorful flower meadows, the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona and seven special bridges to cross the Flem characterize this hike. Add to this a wonderful view that you won’t soon forget, and this makes the tour a summer highlight.

A perfect start to the day of hiking

Alp Nagens – Segneshütte

Our hike began on a sunny day with a ride on the B 125 post bus from Laax, Rancho, which took us to Nagens. From there, we made our way over hill and dale towards the Segneshütte, which can be reached via various routes. We chose the route along the Nagens reservoir, which led us directly to the Segneshütte and thus to the first stage destination with a beautiful view of the Graubünden mountains opposite. If you prefer something more challenging, you can also take the route over the Unterer Segnesboden. This is a little longer, requires surefootedness and offers an even more intense mountain experience.

Break with refreshment

UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona

Once we arrived at the Segnes hut, it was only a short distance to the Unterer Segnesboden and we could marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. We took this opportunity for a short snack break, soaked our feet in the cool water and enjoyed the view of the mountains towards the famous Martinsloch.

Did you know? The UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona gives you unique insights into the history of the formation of the Alpine mountains and valleys. The diverse evidence and traces of these powerful forces are exceptionally visible here.

The way into the valley

We then tackled the second part of our hike and walked the award-winning Flims water trail, Trutg dil Flem, which led us down into the valley. We crossed the Flem using seven special bridges made of different materials and shapes and walked across meadows, through gorges and along varied hiking trails to Flims.

Did you know: The Trutg dil Flem, with the bridges built by the famous Graubünden bridge builder Jürg Conzett, was awarded the main prize Prix Rando 2014 by the Swiss Hiking Trail Association, which is considered one of the most important prizes in the hiking world in Europe.

Highlights of the hike

The Trutg dil Flem shines with many highlights and we always discovered something new. Colorful mountain flower meadows, sunny benches for a break and the cold Flem to bathe your feet are just some of them. At the end of this hike, we dived into the crystal-clear Lake Cresta, in the middle of the idyllic Flims forest, and ended the day of hiking by the lake. A summer’s day couldn’t end any better, could it?

Tour variations

The route of the Flims Water Trail, Trutg dil Flem, can be divided into different stages to create a suitable tour. Not only can you choose a tour on the way to the Segneshütte, but you can also determine the length of your hike by either starting at Startgels or Foppa or finishing your hike and taking the cable car back down to the valley. The tour is therefore also family-friendly and can be put together individually.
